Abstract (eng)
Due to professional challenges and stressors, professional musicians suffer from physical and psychological stress. This work explains the most common physical problems suffered by musicians and the effects on their everyday lives. The pain treatment methods are presented. Furthermore, the frequent psychological burdens such as stress, performance anxiety and depression, which can affect lives of the musicians, are presented. The possible prevention treatments are mentioned in detail. Several studies show positive effects of stress coping-, meditation-, sports- and anxiety reduction- training on the psychological and physical condition of musicians and music students. Music universities should promote mental and physical health and offer their students the preventive courses. As a result, musicians could develop the cognitive mechanisms against stress, anxiety and depression and get to know the relaxation and stretching exercises against body pain. This could increase the quality of playing and life quality. Based on the theoretical background a psychophysical education program, that is suitable for musicians, was created for Gustav Mahler Private University. Emphasis is placed on the awareness of body pains and their treatment.
